CrossFit Defense Specialty Course

CrossFit Defense Specialty Course Review

CrossFit Defense Course

This past Saturday I attended the CrossFit Defense Specialty Course at Reebok CrossFit One in Canton, Massachusetts. I was fortunate enough to have two friends from my CrossFit box attend with me, both women without any martial arts background. While all three of us enjoyed it, we all got something different out of the course.

CrossFit Level 1 Seminar – Why CrossFitters Should Attend

CrossFit Level 1 Seminar - What to Expect

Back in September I attended a CrossFit Level 1 seminar. It was a wonderful two-day experience and I learned a lot. Since then, a lot of people have asked me what I learned and if they would benefit from attending. Today I’ll outline some of the things you learn and who would benefit from attendance.

Vegetables Fruit Paleo Vegetarian

Paleo Vegetarian Part 2

Still Paleo Vegetarian

I wrote a few months ago about my diet, which I loosely called “Paleo Vegetarian.” For those that didn’t read it, or don’t want to, it’s pretty simple. I was eating lots of fruit, vegetables, eggs, a bit of dairy, nuts and the full-range of products from a company called Vega. If you want more details of what I was eating, I wrote more about that here.) I’ve made some slight adjustments to my diet and thought it time to document what I am doing. Overall, this “diet” of paleo vegetarianism is working very well.

CrossFit Level 1 – Things I am Looking Forward to

CrossFit Level 1 Here I Come!

After nearly two years of CrossFit training I decided to take the next step and sign up for my CrossFit Level 1 Certification class and test. I’ll be at CrossFit Morristown in Morristown, New Jersey on September 15th and 16th. In the weeks since I signed up I’ve had some thoughts on what I hope to get out of the class.

CrossFit Box Jump

The Question is not “Do or Do Not”

“Do or Do More” is Far More Appropriate

A short time ago I was at my local CrossFit box (gym) getting ready for a workout. The WOD (Workout Of the Day) called for jumping onto a 24″ box. This class was particularly full, so the 24″ boxes were taken very quickly. The 20″ boxes, which I could have used by placing them on a 4″ riser, were also taken. It was then that I noticed the lone 30″ box in the corner, and it all clicked into place.

Martial Arts Tekki Shodan

Martial Arts is Something Everyone Should Learn, Even if Only a Little

Martial Arts is Good for Everyone

A few days ago I wrote about how to select a good martial arts school. I’ve been getting a question from a few people in response – why should I even bother to learn martial arts? Recently I talked about how so many of us ignore our instincts. Martial arts can help with that, but there’s a lot more to learning martial arts than just developing instinct. Here are my top six reasons for learning martial arts.

Paleo Vegetarian – Finally Found Something That Works

Paleo Vegetarian – The Best Term I’ve Come Up With

Let me start this off by saying something I don’t usually say – I don’t care if you disagree with me. I am certainly open to feedback on my Paleo Vegetarian “lifestyle” but am not open to ignorance, bs, criticism or the like. This amalgamation of a diet has taken me a long time to assemble.

CrossFit – The Workout I’ve Always Wanted

I Love CrossFit

I’ve always been a gym person. Sure, I’ve taken breaks from time to time over the years, but I’ve always gone back. Strength and cardio training has always been something that I mostly enjoyed, but it was secondary to sports – including martial arts. All of that changed when I first discovered CrossFit.
