Kuba Kickz Review

Review of the Kuba Kickz

I originally noticed the Kuba Kickz product when I was browsing around Amazon last December looking for a gift for my Tae Kwon Do instructor. I always try to find something different, as he has everything you could ever imagine. The Kuba Kickz product was intriguing so I purchased one for him.

CrossFit Defense Specialty Course

CrossFit Defense Specialty Course Review

CrossFit Defense Course

This past Saturday I attended the CrossFit Defense Specialty Course at Reebok CrossFit One in Canton, Massachusetts. I was fortunate enough to have two friends from my CrossFit box attend with me, both women without any martial arts background. While all three of us enjoyed it, we all got something different out of the course.

whistlekick – Announcing the Launch of my New Company

whistlekick – Because I still had a little time to sleep!

While most people spent New Year’s Eve at parties or home with their family, I decided to do something a bit unconventional – I completed the launch of a new business. I’ve spent the last two years working on Whistlekick, LLC, and when the product finally arrived mid-December, I knew I had to get my act together and finish up the website and other marketing materials. What is whistlekick, you ask? Read on!

Belleville TR-102 Mini-Mil Minimalist Boot

Review of the Minimalist Barefoot Belleville TR 102 Mini-Mil Boot

Belleville TR 102 Mini-Mil Review

As a fan of barefoot shoes (which some people call minimalist footwear), I’m always on the lookout for new footwear. I’ve been looking for proper minimalist boots for years. While Vibram made a pair for a while, they had the standard FiveFingers “toes,” which made them a bit inappropriate for work. Vivo makes some, but I’ve never found a paid in a store. The pairs of Vivo shoes I’ve tried on seemed of questionable quality, so I wasn’t shelling out $175 for boots I hadn’t tried. Then I found a blog post about the Belleville TR 102 boots.

CrossFit Level 1 Seminar – Why CrossFitters Should Attend

CrossFit Level 1 Seminar - What to Expect

Back in September I attended a CrossFit Level 1 seminar. It was a wonderful two-day experience and I learned a lot. Since then, a lot of people have asked me what I learned and if they would benefit from attending. Today I’ll outline some of the things you learn and who would benefit from attendance.

Paleo Vegetarian Burger Recipes

Paleo Vegetarian Burger Recipes

Lately, a lot of my writing has been on my diet, which I refer to as paleo vegetarian. (You can read more about the specifics here.) As I’ve done this a while I thought it time to start sharing some recipes. Below you’ll find some of the paleo vegetarian burger recipes I’ve developed over the last couple years. I make these when I want to pretend I’m having a burger, and usually eat them between a couple of lettuce or kale leaves. They will keep in the fridge for a few days, though they’re not great with microwave reheating.

Vegetables Fruit Paleo Vegetarian

Paleo Vegetarian Part 2

Still Paleo Vegetarian

I wrote a few months ago about my diet, which I loosely called “Paleo Vegetarian.” For those that didn’t read it, or don’t want to, it’s pretty simple. I was eating lots of fruit, vegetables, eggs, a bit of dairy, nuts and the full-range of products from a company called Vega. If you want more details of what I was eating, I wrote more about that here.) I’ve made some slight adjustments to my diet and thought it time to document what I am doing. Overall, this “diet” of paleo vegetarianism is working very well.

CrossFit Level 1 – Things I am Looking Forward to

CrossFit Level 1 Here I Come!

After nearly two years of CrossFit training I decided to take the next step and sign up for my CrossFit Level 1 Certification class and test. I’ll be at CrossFit Morristown in Morristown, New Jersey on September 15th and 16th. In the weeks since I signed up I’ve had some thoughts on what I hope to get out of the class.

CrossFit Box Jump

The Question is not “Do or Do Not”

“Do or Do More” is Far More Appropriate

A short time ago I was at my local CrossFit box (gym) getting ready for a workout. The WOD (Workout Of the Day) called for jumping onto a 24″ box. This class was particularly full, so the 24″ boxes were taken very quickly. The 20″ boxes, which I could have used by placing them on a 4″ riser, were also taken. It was then that I noticed the lone 30″ box in the corner, and it all clicked into place.

Yurbuds Earbud Headphones

Yurbuds Review

Yurbuds – Do They Live Up to the Hype?

A few months ago I was at BestBuy poking around and noticed a set of Yurbuds – a brand of earbud headphones that claimed to never fall out. I was intrigued as this has always been my biggest problem with listening to music while working out. I finally purchased a pair a week ago and thought I’d share my thoughts.
